The sweet tooth season is steadily approaching. October brings Halloween and this, if possible, always seems to bring more candy than the previous year. This could be because kids leave the house with the completely obtainable goal of not coming back until there is more candy in their basket than the year before. I would know, I succeeded in doing this many times during my childhood.
There are ways to get in the spirit of the season while still eating foods with a nutritional value though; Halloween isn't just for the sugar-laden, cavity-forming treats that fill the store aisles. And I'm not speaking of the old couple that hands out apples on the 31st to disappointed kids that are bound to walk away rolling their eyes and warn every kid they see, saying, "Don't hit that brick house down the hill on the left, it's a dud." No, I am talking about a little of the best of both worlds: Apple Smiles.
HERE are more ideas for healthy(ish) treats for the Halloween season.
